Vicky Kaushal all set to play Manekshaw, Indian army chief during Liberation War
Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal says he has started preparing for the much-anticipated film "Sam Bahadur", a biopic on India's first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw who was the country's army chief during the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh.
The Liberation War victory against Pakistan saw Gen Sam Manekshaw's elevation to the rank of Field Marshal.
Vicky Kaushal, winner of an Indian National Film Award, will play the war hero in the biographical film being directed by Meghna Gulzar, who previously directed him in the much-acclaimed India-Pakistan spy thriller "Raazi".
Kaushal took to Instagram to share the update with fans and followers. "Here we go... Prep starts! #SAMBAHADUR @meghnagulzar @rsvpmovies," he captioned the picture of the film's script.
Bhavani Iyer, who wrote "Raazi", has also penned the script of "Sam Bahadur" along with Gulzar and Shantanu Srivastava of "Badhaai Ho!" fame, our New Delhi correspondent reports.
The film also stars Sanya Malhotra, who will play Manekshaw's wife Silloo, and Fatima Sana Shaikh who will be seen in the role of India's former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The film's makers are yet to announce the release date of "Sam Bahadur".
