Roach added to West Indies Test squad

Ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh, West Indies got a big boost as veteran pacer Kemar Roach was added to the squad.

Roach had picked up an injury while playing County Cricket and was to be included subject to a fitness test. On the eve of the game, Roach was declared to be fit and Cricket West Indies stated that he had "made a full recovery from an injury sustained while playing for Surrey."

"It's brilliant that he's fit for the Test match. He's always an inspiration for the younger players we have here and he's ready to go," stated head coach Phil Simmons.

"With 250 wickets around the corner, we're happy with what he brings to the table, not just on the field but in the dressing room as well. I'm glad he's fit and looking forward to seeing him getting out there and doing what he does so well." he added.

West Indies, currently ranked 6th in the World Test Championship, take on last-placed Bangladesh in the first of the two Tests at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadum in Antigua from Thursday, June 16.
